Maple Glazed Ham

A naturally delicious forest-raised ham lightly brushed with a maple glaze and baked until warm, caramelized, and golden. It’s an easy, crowd-pleasing dish that works beautifully for holidays, gatherings, or a cozy family dinner.

INGREDIENTS:

  • Pork Smoked Ham Roast
  • 3/4 cup real maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons stone ground mustard
  • 2 teaspoons ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Trim excess fat from the ham and place in a roasting pan.
  2. In small bowl, mix the maple syrup, mustard, cloves, and cinnamon to create the glaze.
  3. Brush the ham with enough glaze to cover, and reserve the rest. Tent with foil.
  4. Bake at 325ºF for about 25-35 minutes per pound, basting every 20 minutes with the pan juices. For the final 20 minutes, remove the foil and brush on the remaining glaze.
  5. Remove ham from oven once it reaches 150ºF. Cover with foil and let rest for 20 minutes (the internal temperature will rise about 10ºF after the ham is out of the oven)The internal temperature of the finished ham should be 160ºF.
  6. Slice, serve, and enjoy!

TIP:

  • The key to a great natural, forest-raised ham is cooking it low and slow. If you rush it, the meat can turn out tough, but gentle heat over a longer time keeps it moist, tender, and full of flavor.
